Icy frosting

Winter has finally reached Finland! The pics are not your typical winter scenery, but this was the first day of (decent) sub-zero temperatures. The lake Päijänne is now pretty much frozen solid, but just a few days ago the combination of wind & water created some spectacular popsicles and frostings. Shot with a Nikkor 85mm 1.8

Things got a little hairy

A sunny morning, and a nighttime temperature that had fallen below zero just before sunrise. The ground crackled beneath my feet and the frozen dew had coated all the plants in white, icy “hair”. A rare piece of sunshine

I was delighted to be woken up by sunshine on boxing day. Sunny days were a really scarce treat in december, and days off with sunshine even more so. The temperature was freezing, -20 c if I remember correctly.
